Saroj Nalini Dutt Memorial Association<\/p>\n\n<!--more-->\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">is a nearly 100-year-old NGO. <strong>The Saroj Nalini Dutt Memorial Association (SNDMA)<\/strong> was founded by <strong>Shri Gurusaday Dutt<\/strong> in 1925 after the death of his wife Smt Saroj Nalini Dutt. He did so to realize his late wife&#8217;s philanthropic vision. The main aim of this institution was to train helpless, needy women and transform them into independent, strong-minded individuals.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The association continues to pursue the fundamental objectives set by Shri Gurusaday Dutt. Some of these objectives are as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Educate women from low-income groups in both urban and rural areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set up structures for maternal and child healthcare, and teach hygiene, basic health principles and childcare to rural and urban women.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teach women about nutrition and family planning to improve their overall quality of life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create and manage vocational training centers to improve the economic status of women.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working for the well-being of children through health, education and other development activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Raising women&#8217;s awareness of their socio-economic status in society, with an emphasis on women in rural areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We met the members of the board: Aditi Choudhury, president; Aparna Ghose, secretary and Sreemoyee Ganguli, treasurer.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/pengalalayam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/SAROJ-6-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3036\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pengalalayam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/SAROJ-6-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/pengalalayam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/SAROJ-6-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pengalalayam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/SAROJ-6-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/pengalalayam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/SAROJ-6-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/pengalalayam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/SAROJ-6-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/pengalalayam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/SAROJ-6-958x639.jpg 958w, https:\/\/pengalalayam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/SAROJ-6-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We spent a long time talking about their work with vulnerable women, and then visited their various workshops: weaving, printing and sewing, as well as the store where they sell their creations.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We then met the class of educated women. The oldest was over 60. She was in 1st class (the equivalent of CP for us).
